about

First contact with lost Space Inc. Station "Yin".

Terrarium humidity regulator, fertilization module, and interplanetary seeding command are active but signs of Crew and mammalian life are vacant from the station. All defensive technology has been deactivated manually and all airlocks have been secured shut from within via primary command mainframe.

93 Years have passed since Space Inc. Sation "Yin" was launched as part of a cross-system fertilization effort. The goal: To modify the Eco-systems on planets within the local Space Inc. controlled Star System so that they may support life.

Within the first 40 years of activity "Yin" had successfully begun the process of Terra-Forming 86 sizeable planetoids, capable of sustaining life for at least 3 Billion Humanoids each (and varying). As the years passed, the productivity of the station plummeted. By its 55th year of travel communications from the crew aboard had all but ceased. Granted the crew was growing in age and the various gravitational and elemental discrepancies between planets lead to some health complications. At the Space Inc. HQ they had the vitals of all crew on active observation and though communications ceased, the vessel showed all Crew alive and (relatively) healthy.

On the 56th Anniversary of the stations launch, comms, location, vital readings and all readable activity within the station vanished from the Space Inc. Systems. After great effort by Space Inc. Engineers to bring back on communications or at least find the stations location they were unsuccessful. Their only option was to send out a team of Space Inc. explorers, aimed at the last marked location of "Yin" . It was a long shot but at this point no computer could lock onto the Stations coordinates and they felt a manned vessel would be the only option. Maybe that was just the excuse they gave us when they packed us on board this vessel, they told us upon our return we would be personally honored by Space Inc. Tops. For a young cadet on their first mission this seemed like a shoe-in to a high end gig I could coast on the rest of my life. Something nice, sorting data in an office somewhere.

I got on this ship at the ripe young age of 18, stars in my eyes, a new cadet ready to face perils unimaginable to the regular planet dweller. That was 37 years ago, 2 weeks ago I turned 55. I wouldn't have even remembered if it wasn't for my crew mates "over the hill" party they surprised me with. Normally I'm not one for parties, or surprises but I guess when you've spent nearly 4 decades of your life doing nothing but flying through a bunch of more nothing, a party can be nice every once in a while.

2 weeks went by same as always, check monitors, check ships stability and trajectory, scan for metallic objects/ life forms/ distress beacons, shit, shower, sleep, repeat. It was that way damn near everyday for 37 years up until today.

Scan's showed nothing as usual upon my morning duty, with that I went to the kitchen hoping someone had already done the chore of preparing first meal. No surprise it was up to me again. Just as I was reaching to remove the Safety- Sealed Space Inc. Official Star Explorers Energy Meal from the preparation chamber I heard a sound. A sound I had never heard. A very loud and repeating beep. Before I could even make it back to the Scanning computer I heard a shout from the Observation Deck. I ran up and right there, the station, Just floating there as it had been doing for close to 100 years and half my crew standing there, mouths agape.

I realized mine was too.
